Thread: I called to hire someone months ago. When I called him he explained his daughter was in ICU and wasn’t gonna make it. He declined the job based on that, obviously but stated he needed work. I told upper management to not count him out just yet. “Leave him on the list” /1
3 weeks later I got a phone call from him asking me if the job was still available. I said let me check and request your equipment (laptop etc). I jumped through a few hoops but got it done. I assumed his daughter had passed and needed work. I had it overnighted /2
and asked him to meet me the next day so I could train him. He was there and ready. At the time he could barely get through a sentence without his grief coming in tears. I know grief and I understand it. I met him where he was in that, and ensured him we’d figure it out. /3
I just got a report stating that in all 50 states he has the largest completion/success rate for what we do. The man put all his trust in me, while dealing with something unimaginable. I called to tell him and he broke down. He told me /4
“I lost my daughter who was the same age as you and while you can never replace her you’ve been such a comfort”. Now I’m ugly crying. /END
