THIS JUST IN: Art is NOT the issue but how a lot of people use art & the art they choose to produce is the problem. It’s always technique heavy plus using antiBlackness or “urbanization” as materiality plus make it touch on white art movements, white hard edge here.
Rarely does these Black artists who start selling 1K+ for pieces regularly redistribute anything. They only support nonblacks & Black ppl who tap danced like them & have similar social capital or more. Art is beacon for shallow representational politics.
Art is a cesspool of nonblack revisionism, a form of reformism where nonblacks tokenize a few more Black ppl to deflect from how little they actually supported Black ppl over the years.
🦝s love it cause they always looking for the Black ppl that will call out antiBlackness the least & usually actively encourage antiBlackness to be part of the PR reformism.
nonblack revisionism is define by not structural or material change, just new tokens and/or overseers or *faithful* tokens get polished a gold star to keep performing.
Art can be used as literal weapons, inventions, proBlack agitprop, shelter, industrial design, hacking, but people wanna keep finding new ways to sell how Black people die daily to nonblacks who dont care and only want the work that *gently* reminds them of antiBlack genocide.
