Thread. This is literally the first time in my life that I've felt that we'd exceed a climate target.

This is the first time in my life I've felt that we'd hit a climate target.

Heck, this is the first time in my life I've felt we'd experience a significant drop in GHGs. https://twitter.com/DanWoy/status/1337524078563848193
Ultimately, though, we need to focus on how we will grow our economy in a rapidly decarbonizing world.

That's what I want to hear from all parties: where do you think growth will come from?
Because a lot of what I hear is basically that "well, we'll find our competitive advantage".

This is tautologically true, but what good is it if our "competitive advantage" is letting the loonie fall to 40 cents then competing on labour costs?
We're an economy dependent on exports. What, ultimately, will we export in a globally decarbonizing economy?

We need to make sure we set up the economic conditions to make that a reality.
In short, today's announcement gets us closer to an answer, by setting up the economic conditions to help our cleantech industry thrive.
