This veto would leave in place a system that forces young people to choose between staying pregnant, crossing a state borders, or going to court. It prevents vulnerable young people from seeing a doctor when they most need it, and traumatizes them when they need help the most. https://twitter.com/bostonglobe/status/1337521613248618497
The vast majority of young people tell their parents if they become pregnant. The rest? They can't—they're in foster care, have incarcerated parents, or are not safe at home. They are also disproportionately Black and Brown. They deserve a choice too. This veto targets them.
Not to mention, every major medical organization thinks this law harms young people and delays medical care. Are we trusting doctors these days or not?
I applaud the Legislature for leading on the #ROEAct and I encourage them to override this veto.
