Someone must have studied this, but I wonder: Has an age in so much music is available made appreciation of music greater, lesser, or made no difference?

Quick thread.
In the old days, if you were a music fan, you probably spent a lot of time seeking out the music you wanted, and a lot of money buying it. These days, a gazillion works of music are there for you instantly at the touch of a button.
It might be that having so much available makes people appreciate their music more, as there is so much to hear. Or maybe easy availability means you appreciate it less, as you take it for granted, like not going to a great museum b/c it's nearby and you could go any time.
I ask this because, at least in my case, I would guess that easy availability has made me listen less carefully. Back when I had to chase down albums and pay dearly for them, I really, really listened to them. But it's hard to compare different eras, so I'm not sure.
And no, I am not procrastinating while I should be grading. (I don't have my exams yet.) Good guess, though. /end
