It feels like a neurotypical brain has 10 attention units and I have 30.

Reading a book takes up 8 AU, which means that if yall do that you don't need to do anything else cause your brain is at 80% capacity. Meanwhile my brain is only 26% engaged and the remaining 74% are bored. https://twitter.com/StructuredSucc/status/1337414084145393664
Now 74% brain is a majority so they say to the 26% that want to read "Hey lets not do that - lets play video games instead" (Video games tend to require way more attention because they're stimulating almost all senses and require action as well).
That's why cleaning is such a mess with me. I can't ONLY focus on one thing - I have to focus on 5 things and do them simultaneously, else my brain gets bored and literally won't let me do the thing.
My brain feels like it craves high stress situations just to have a chance to be fully engaged. That's probably why I got into martial arts - it requires absolute focus on 1000 things simultaneously for a limited amount of time. That's what I'm good at. That's what my brain needs
That's probably also why I loved working in a kitchen. It's a high stress environment where you have to juggle 10 things at a time.

Meanwhile school, university and many desk jobs are the exact opposites. Low-level engagement over long periods of time.
