Most people who catch covid catch it from people they live with. That’s been true since day 1. But the chain of transmission starts when a member of a household brings the virus home from somewhere else, eg unsafe workplaces.
So when a worker is infected and then transmits infection to 3 other people in their family/household, there are two ways we can respond: 1) address workplace safety OR 2) say 75% of transmission happened in the household so there’s nothing we can do.
Cuomo is closing indoor dining in NYC, which is the right move. Data like this, presented in a misleading way, will be used by restaurants to challenge those restrictions.
