if American "mythology" was adequate, why so you have westerners travelling by the hundreds to Buddhist and Hindu temples in order to "find themselves"? it's corny and embarrassing but something about the image of devotion to archetypes speaks to them unconsciously
but Westerners don't know how to interpret or pursue the idea of living right or balanced, to bring this desire to consciousness. we've numbed it by applying too much "rationality".
