Sisi, I adore your work but I do disagree with your recent article. And I've noticed a pattern in your arguments. You often rely on "personal responsibility" when discussing topics of money management and games/writing. This is wildly narrow-minded. https://twitter.com/six6jiang/status/1337427284958044163
Gambling is an addiction that millions of people suffer from and these topics about spending "$0 in this game is easy" really took me out. I have personally struggled with this problem and to imply that it's a personal responsibility is to demean all those who have fallen prey.
F2P games are inherently designed to exploit the few, the ones who do fall into this pattern. And folks who personally spend no money should understand that they are riding the entertainment of the game on the backs of those who HAVE fallen into unhealthy spending habits.
I feel like you should have had that as a main topic in your article, rather than just diminish that aspect that f2p games contain. Because everyone knows they are only free to play to the majority, and pay with everything you can to the minority.
I know you ultimately are only talking about your experience but you have a platform and these are great tips for playing this game, but feel as if they ignore the biggest issue. The more we normalize this, the worse it will become.
I am the vulnerable person you are talking about, I am the WHALE. And I adore that you share these tips, but it is also our responsibility to not normalize this aspect of gaming.
