So, what I love about Jay's videos is that they are are able to discuss the series as a narrative but also take the time to discuss the themes of the show, and Eizouken has one theme, baby:
Eizouken is a kind of weird series, because it lingered in that space between mainstream and sleeper hit, but the interesting thing is that it resonated very strongly with creators.
A few months ago every creator in this site had a Eizouken meme pic as pfp+

Animators, illustrators, writers, critics, etc, everyone was watching this damn show and getting super emotional over it, because there's an extreme sincerity in how this show discusses the struggle of producing basically anything
How do you make money out of something? SHOULD you make money out of it? What happens to your work once you do, and how can someone maintain an internal vision in a project that is much bigger than themselves?
While the series is 100% a look at the anime industry, it's much bigger than that.
Everyone was quoting Asakusa the week she said "We are trying to create the best world". The best world is inside everyone's heads, it's a matter of making it concrete.
