It never panned out but I have always wanted to work here.

In December 2018, I finally landed an 18-month project for the Times-Union.
Out of nowhere, *the* editor of the CJ, @KentuckyRAG, tweets the story and congratulates me on the work.
Turns out, my mentor @KGoetz1 had put the work in front of him.

On New Year’s Eve, Rick and I hop on a phone call, chat for about half an hour and promise to talk again soon.
I send him some clips and then... silence.
Until I get this voicemail, weeks later.

March 4, 2019 was my first day in my dream job as an investigative reporter at my dream paper, The Courier Journal.
Rick Green *literally* made my dream, 10 years in the making, come true.

Over the last 21 months, I’ve done some of the best work of my life. I’ve grown tremendously as a reporter, and Rick and the editors he put in place have been instrumental in there.
For that, thank you just doesn’t feel like enough.
