Maybe this is the dweeb in me talking, but I fucking LOVE learning to teach. I read Pedagogy of the Oppressed as a high schooler learning debate. Education, not research, is the primary function of the academy.
Also consider: my advisors told me to put my publications and presentations above my teaching experience on PhD applications.
