The evidence seems clear, to me at least, that Facebook has been a wildly destructive force in the world but honestly, this tendency toward reactionary tribal response is not a product of Facebook; Facebook is a product of it.

I have no idea how we slow the slide away from a shared reality - among our various tribes, we do not live on the same planet - but I’m pretty sure it will be impossible to solve our problems if we don’t make that our most urgent mission.
