Today is my last day as an intern with @excelsm, l have learned so much during my time with the Brand Marketing Team

Here’s a thread...
When l accepted the position and decided to join the team l kinda felt like Robert Deniro in “The Intern”. Older than my peers but eager for a new opportunity. As l evolve (aka transition) into the industry l would always hear, “You have solid real world experience, BUT” (CONT’D)
This “BUT” was an obstacle that has prevented me from roles of interest that l have been qualified for. The caveat WAS you’re experienced BUT you don’t have the right experience, you’re an athlete BUT you’ve never worked with athletes - that stops here! (CONT’D)..
I’m grateful that @excelsm (thanks again @naielah 4 connecting the
dots) invested in my future by taking a chance on someone that is changing careers. To show them just how serious l was l made a concerted effort (CONT’D)
to simply be a resource - whether that was capturing notes on each and every call, pitching concepts for activation ideas or even stepping up as the project lead for our Name, Image & Likeness case study - no task is too small. Over the past 4 months l have learned ... (CONT’D)
+ Acknowledge what you do not know, identify the experts and pour into those relationships.
+ Over communication is key - build, manage and nurture each connection.
+ Find a way to be a resource, no task is too small.

Although this was a virtual experience l was able to build meaningful connections with partners, leadership, managers and anyone else that’s a part of the EXCEL tribe.

As we all hit reset in a couple of weeks to start 21’ just wanted to give @excelsm their flowers & share my story. It’s never too late to pursue your passions and carve out the life you want. I’m just getting started - forever EXCELling.
