A lengthy theory thread about Kagome and Rin’s large souls
1. We have seen evidence that Kagome and Rin have large souls. We also know that a large soul is often related to a big heart. Think about the word Magnanimous.

Magnanimous comes from Latin magnus "great" and animus "soul," so it literally describes someone who is big-hearted.
2. A person can show that over-sized spirit by being noble or brave, or by easily forgiving others and not showing resentment.
3. An enlightened soul that has lived many lifetimes may be more powerful, more empathic, and the reincarnation may be a highly compassionate person with a very mature and self-aware spirit. Is it possible that not only Kagome, but also Rin is a reincarnation?
4. Reincarnation is the belief that the non-physical essence of a living being starts a new life in a different physical form or body after biological death. It is also called rebirth or transmigration.
5. When a soul is reincarnated, sometimes it goes on a conscious journey through the universe, that the person with the transmigrated soul would be unaware of. The “higher self” has some form of control over the journey of reincarnation.
6. We already know that Kagome is the reincarnation of the legendary priestess Kikyo.

Kagome was born with the tasks of healing Kikyo’s soul entirely, and destroying the jewel.
7. When Kagome was born, the symbol her mother saw on her chest was an 8 pointer star, also called an Octagram, a symbol of fullness, regeneration and cyclical infinity. In Buddhism, it is connected to the eightfold path, which is a path to escape suffering & break attachments
8. Ironically enough, this symbol (and the light of the sacred jewel) was located on Kagome’s heart chakra, the unifying chakra, and the ultimate healing force. (A parallel with Rin)
9. We’ve seen instances where despite Kagome’s age and general demeanor, she has scenes where she “self talks” and displays her self awareness and keen ability to look within and do the right thing without hesitation, which is something a mature soul is capable of.
10. What about Rin?

Rin is a child in the original series, but we’ve seen her do the unthinkable, and incredibly brave things, because she has a deep desire to help others.
11. We’ve discovered previously that Rin was a vital part of Tenseiga’s plan, because she was the only one that was capable of opening Sesshomaru’s heart. This is another parallel with Kagome. A young soul tasked with a purpose as a healing force. https://twitter.com/rinsmeido/status/1334245135945752583?s=21
12. We’ve seen instances where Rin is incredibly empathic towards others, even after just meeting them, even after they attempt to kill her.

She has shown kindness towards Kagura and Kohaku, because she empathizes with their loneliness in the world.
13. It’s obvious that Rin is no ordinary girl, and her soul is far from ordinary also. Jinenji has even compared her to Kagome, and said she had energy like the sun.
14. Perhaps it’s possible that Rin’s soul has journeyed through many lifetimes to become such a powerful source of love, joy and healing, despite incredible suffering.
15. Rin was revived twice because she proved that her life was necessary in this lifetime, by being capable of opening Sesshomaru’s heart so quickly, and causing a deep despair that even his mother could see, which caused a demon like her, to show compassion towards a human life.
