Bullying has always been a cultural corrective that serves to enforce the mores, norms & rules of the tribe & stamp out deviant, unhealthy behavior before it becomes a danger; or to ostracize and ultimately banish those who refuse to conform to collectively agreed upon rules.

It's healthy behavior, and the modern demonization of it is one of the reasons for the myriad dystopian ills we now see all around us. All of the disgusting and poisonous behaviors that presently plague us used to be kept in check by social shame and outright bullying.

Promiscuity, sexual deviance, single motherhood, intemperance, sloth, slovenliness, obesity, unhealthy behaviors of all kind were kept in check by the punishment or threat of ruthless bullying and ostracism.
