This is basically "stopped clocks are right twice a day", but if you only look at the clock when it's right, do you learn from it? You will certainly think you have, but have you?

I've seen so many transphobes try and argue that trans women can't experience misogyny. The obvious counter argument to that is "Do you think a misogynistic abuser asks for women's original birth certificate before harassing her?"
The answer is obviously no, but a good 75% of the people asked this question will either claim they can always tell or will deflect onto Karen White. But the remaining 25% usually try and all make the same counter argument:
That there is a distinction between harassment targeted at someone the abuser KNOWS is a woman (cis women) and one that he PERCEIVES as a woman (trans women)
Firstly literally everything you know and experience can only be via your own perception of the world, so this is ridiculous anyway. The man perceives a woman whether she's trans or cis. His perception of a woman and hatred of women is what causes the misogyny, that's what it is
But there is also a philosophy question here about what you actually KNOW, and how you know it. And I think it's quite core to how people perceive and understand trans people. Transphobes always talk as if there's a "real" person underneath what they see in front of them
What's your "real" name? What's your "real" sex? What do you "really" look like?
