“its just a cube” “its just inspiration ... its just architecture” - the importance of the kaaba, mosques, and the burial of Imam Hussein (A.S.) to muslims: a thread #SMstopDisrespectingIslam
before i begin i would like to state that i am arab and shia muslim, but im not an expert so if i make a mistake, fellow muslims please let me know.
firstly, the kaaba alshareef (shown in the picture below) is islams most sacred sight, its a place where muslims perform a bunch of rituals intended to bring greater unity and connection between fellow muslims and God.
“God has appointed the Ka’bah, the Sacred House, a support for mankind, and the Sacred Month and the offerings and the garlands. That is so that you may know that God knows whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth, and that God is Knower of all things.” (Q5:97)
its also called the ‘House of God’ but it doesn’t mean the house where God lives but the house that is dedicated to God for His worship alone; muslims don’t worship the Kaaba, but view it as a metaphorical house of God.
the kaaba is also the place in whose direction billions of muslims make their direction (to pray) five times a day. it is not “just a cube” it holds immensely great significance in islam.
onto mosques:
“It is a place where Muslims gather, since a mosque’s role is that of a centre of authority for the Muslim community, which guides and instructs them in their religious as well as temporal duties and obligations and directs their relationships+
with their environment as per the revealed laws of Islam” (ezraine institute). some mosques are also used as places where Muslims get together and discuss things or where religious education takes place.
it is not just a piece of architecture or “just a building” or “aladdin themed” its not only a place for praying, but it’s also the center of the community and where many wonderful pieces of islamic art have been created.
now, the final part of this thread will be a bit confusing to understand without lots of historical context, but it should still make some sense.
nct used the interior of the shrine of imam hussain (A.S.) as a background for NCT U’s make a wish stage. you cannot deny this. the phrase is right there.
historical context: imam hussain (A.S.) died in the battle of karbala. this is the most tragic event in islamic history. it is remembered every year as “ashura”, an event where muslim grieve over the loss of the imam and his companions.
using this phrase as an aesthetic for music is highly disrespectful towards the imam and towards muslims who honor his sacrifice every year.
the fact that i had to create this thread despite being highly highly sensitive to islamophobia is so wrong, and im actually shaking as im typing this. i understand that many fellow muslims have different opinions on this issue, but im just stating mine.
this is NOT about fanwars. its not about your fav or my fav. dont make this into a fanwar and disrespect islam even further.
if i have to add anything else due to misinformation or incorrect information i will do so. please do not attack me for this, im highly sensitive, but im sick and tired of people using islam like this.
thank you for going through this thread. islam is not an aesthetic.
yall can give me as much hate as you want but pls don’t disrespect our imams pls
guys... im not stupid,, i realized right after i made the thread that the building is hexagonal shaped IN THE MV... thats why i put that tweet stated that under the thread.... it being a hexagonal shaped mosque instead of a kaaba doesnt make the situation any better??
