heyyy I'm back with more theories on songs! It's time for a detailed Walls x Falling analysis, a thread:
We've always speculated about the similarities between Walls (the song) and Falling. Some things have been already pointed out like both being track number 6, the first lines of both songs matching "nothing wakes you up like waking up alone" & "I'm in my bed and you're not here"
(but the ftdt line as well "woke up alone in this hotel room, played with myself where were you?").
But I have more to say about the way these two songs complete each other and basically tell the same event/feelings. So here you are some ulterior observations by me!
First of all I think that when Harry sings "and there's no one to blame but the drinks and my wandering hands" it means that he got drunk after a fight, Louis left all of the sudden, so drunk Harry sent him some not so kind messages he then regretted sending.
But I have more! To me the reason of their fight could have been about their closeting/will to come out and now I'm gonna explain to you why I believe so.
Basically, during the chorus of Falling Harry sings "what if I'm down?" Down to what? Coming out, being more open about his sexuality? Very possible since he then sings "what if I'm out?" Which is to me quite self explanatory.
Now, how does this connect to Walls? Easy! considering Louis sings "the day you walked away and took the higher ground was the day that I became the man that I am now" which to me basically translates to "the day you decided to """"come out"""" I became the man that I am now"
and then in the chorus *pic* he tells us how he got over his fears, the same fears Harry had to overcome too, and how Harry was all along the reason, his "because" he allowed himself to be open while he watches all those high walls fall down, for Harry but for himself too.
We witness in both songs also how sorry they are for their stupid actions, words, texts: "forget what I said, it's not what I meant and I can't take it back" sings Harry "no amount of words will ever be enough" sings Louis.
But most importantly they're, first of all, introspective songs that, apart from telling us how they felt about being so important in each other's life, confess to us some very deep and vulnerable feelings and thoughts of their own personal experience.
I can't not notice a connection with golden (and its unrealised lyrics) too thooooo! Because there Harry tells us "know that you're scared because I'm so open" and well once again the meaning is self explanatory and so is the person the line and the whole song are about.
While in the unrealised lyrics he sings "(he's)golden, golden, (he's) golden and I hope that someday he/you/I could be open" meaning that he wants both him and Louis to be (more) open
and if this doesn't scream "I'm currently in a glass closet and my boyfriend is surrounded by leaches and stunts and our previous management made him look like the straightest h*m*ph*be" I don't know what does.
