My late grandfather was an engineer for the @metpoliceuk until the 1980s and designed/developed a number of their specialist vehicles. It seems a shame to leave his work hidden in a folder, so I’ve shared these images with @MPSHeritage, and here they are@for enjoyment...
An Incident Control Vehicle developed for @HeathrowAirport - seen here with #Concorde.
A “Z Wagon” hydraulic removal vehicle used for towing illegally parked cars. Apparently the car on the back is the Home Secretary’s Daimler limo, borrowed to check how much weight the lift could take.
A newer version of a recovery truck from the early 1980s, also used for lifting naughty cars.
A brand new prisoner transport vehicle, seen here being tested on a tilt bed to check its centre of gravity and see how far it could tilt before falling over.
