Tom Story:

I was working at The Chatterbox at the time and had made it in for a Saturday morning shift. by 11am we had had 4 tables total, but management wouldn't let us close. We got a Sysco delivery and had to dig the semi out twice. https://twitter.com/NWSTwinCities/status/1337375270643224576
At 1pm, management finally told us we could go home, no customers at that point since 10:15. My car wasn't visible so I walked to the bus stop while coworkers hacked away at their cars.
The ALine (then the 84) rolled up and slowed but didn't stop. The bus driver opened the doors and yelled "If I stop we'll never get out." then kept going. I went back to The Box. My coworkers were all still there, defeated by the snow. We started drinking. No one clocked out.
When the storm finally abated sometime after dark we stood in the parking lot and assessed our situation. We were fucked. A bunch of ratty little sedans, but one cook had a Ford Explorer. We cleared him a path and all piled in.
There were 7 of us in that car and as we tried to make our way we kept having to pile out and shove the car when we lost momentum. We were all laughing and cussing, we had stolen two shovels and a significant amount of beer for the journey.
We managed to drop off two households, but at the third we were all to tired and too wet to excavated the Explorer again. Amy, who lived at the third house took us all inside. We drank stolen beer, ate Amy's pantry empty, and played password while our clothes dried on a radiator.
Eventually, after we had heard plows past we dug out The Explorer and sent the cook home to his kids on a direct route. Some slept at Amy's, I walked a mile and a half home with pillaged Founder's Stouts clinking in my coat pockets. I slept for 12 hours.
Domebuster was a good storm. For my money? Better than the Halloween Blizzard.
