Belichick’s first year in NE he went 5-11, finished 3-3 in the final 6 games. Flores went 5-11 and finished 3-3 in 2019.

Bill’s 2nd year he handed the team to a young ‘caretaker’ QB not asked to do too much. They were 7-5 at this point in the season, defense allowing 19 pts/gm.

Miami 8-4 to this point, allowing about 18 points per game. Parallels are interesting.

Obviously what etched the 2001 Patriots into NFL history is what happened from here on, finishing year 4-0, beating Raiders at home in Divisional Round, winning in Pitt, the Rams Super Bowl.

So there’s no claim Miami under Brian Flores can make to greatness to this point, obviously.

But if they do go out and do that, we couldn’t say ‘we’ve never seen this before’.
