5 years ago I was a loner. I loved the solitude, being on my own. It was the best thing I thought could happen to me until I got a Job as an Event Planning Supervisor. I had to work with the Van drivers, Dispatch Riders, Event Assistants, Caterers...
It dawned on me the length of social connecting I had to do. Imagine someone who had lived like an island suddenly having to interact on a regular basis with everyone in her workplace.
To make matters more glaring, I was the appointed Boss. There was no escaping any department!
At the begining of this journey, I made many mistakes. I yelled when I wasn’t supposed to and made a mess of earning the trust of the staff. I got offended about misbehaviours i could have created measures to control. It was literally disastrous.
Then I had an epiphany about being the Bosszilla! No one loved a Bosszilla (cruel and hard-to-be-around Boss). So, I went on a quest to change the game.
I read everything I could possibly find on being a better person, making friends, building a team and managing people and situations. I watched videos too and started practicing team bonding techniques to help with the tension already in the air.
