Getting my early Swans player rankings out before the derby so that my judgement isn’t clouded too much. Criteria is 3 appearances minimum. If you disagree with any of these placements, you’re wrong and should feel bad.
19. Viktor Gyokeres - D

A nightmare start for the Swede has seen him limited to a bench role after being brought in with the expectation of replacing Brewster in the 9 role. Missed chances, poor passes, average hold up-play a passenger of a player simply not suited to the league
18. Wayne Routledge - D+

After a well-deserved contract renewal over the summer, it’s clear to most people that although he’s still the most intelligent player on the pitch at all times, after years of running his legs have finally begun their decline. Likely in his final year.
17. Liam Cullen - C-

With 34 minutes pg, Cullen has been eased into the squad by Cooper without being thrown in too quickly. While he’s looked okay, there’s so much more time left for him to develop as a player and soon bring the performances from the U23’s to the Championship.
16. Ryan Manning - C-

Limited to few starts and sub opportunities, Manning has failed to stand out at the LWB role underneath Bidwell’s shadow. One of the most creative players in the league, perhaps he will have to move to another position to try and push for the first team.
15. Morgan Gibbs-White - C

One of the best players in the Championship has seen half his season ruled out due to a hamstring injury after just four games. He showed immense potential during this time and would likely be rated similar to Ayew had he managed to keep fit. Baller.
14. Kasey Palmer - C

What seemed like a weird move in the summer has now made that much more sense after Gibbs-White’s continued absence. A creative player who offers a different game to Dhanda, he’s looked good in the few games he’s played. Hopefully will stay through January.
13. Jamal Lowe - C+

One of the few players Cooper doesn’t like to rotate, Lowe has been a divisive player for Swansea. Although a hard worker capable of making excellent runs, his end product is by far the one thing holding him back. Solid player who we haven’t seen the best of.
12. Matt Grimes - B-

A below-average season for one of the league’s best thus far. Although he certainly hasn’t been bad, it’s beginning to get tough to choose him over our other two midfield options, which shouldn’t be the case for your club captain. Needs to improve.
11. Freddie Woodman: B

Now getting to the point where its tough to separate some of these players. He’s been the keeper in the best defence in the EFL while making one of the least amounts of saves per game. Very happy with him in net and hope to have him there for years to come
10. Kyle Naughton: B

A solid place for our makeshift CB, his contributions pushing the play forward from the back have been immense and his defensive contributions underdiscussed. One of the most experienced players in the team, getting him to sign a new contract was great work.
9. Yan Dhanda - B

A much more consistent player than last year, it’s been a joy to watch this man run the midfield. Although still weak, he’s finally looking stronger and sharper than ever. Bags of talent, only wish he could contribute to goals a little more than he does now.
8. Korey Smith - B
An excellent, versatile option in deeper midfield, Korey has been a surprise mainstay in the first team after many fans were concerned over his injury record, ball winner, forward passer, he’s really come into his own in Cooper’s system. A great leader to have.
7: Jay Fulton - B+

He defends like a centreback, he links up play and is always threatening going forward. Having his best season yet and truly has stepped up. Deserves to earn his starting place next to one of Grimes / Smith. Consistent.
6. Ben Cabango - B+

It’s been nothing but good showings for the Welshman ever since he was brought in last year due to the injuries in our squad. Incredible in the air, he’s got two goals already and without a doubt a top centreback in a league filled with quality in that area.
5. Ryan Bennett: A-

What more can be said about this man’s talent? One of our few CB’s with real experience, he’s organised our team well and we’re lucky to have him. 1950s baller. Plower of Portuguese wives.
4. Connor Roberts - A-

One of our key players this year, Roberts has inarguably been the best right wing-back ever since the new season started. Goals and assists come easy to him now he’s been unleashed from the shackles of 4231. Deserves every bit of praise he’s been getting.
3. Jake Bidwell - A

Jake Bidwell. Superstar. Easily the best wing-back to ever play in this division, some Swansea supporters have all been left stunned by this man’s transformation but to those who were paying attention this come at no shock. Whispers of an England call-up soon
2. Marc Guéhi - A

Chelsea’s finest. A certified Premier League centerback, Guéhi has been dominant in every way possible. 20-25m pound player minimum, most fans would do anything to keep this man at the club for the foreseeable future. Genuinely, unironically generational.
1. Andre Ayew - A+

Does this come to a shock to anyone at all? The fact we’ve kept onto him this long is absurd and frankly unfair to the rest of the division. This year, he’s taken up the responsibility of scoring all our goals as well as everything else he already did. Icon.
