Grooming Jihad: Up close (A Thread)

It was December 2018 when I had come back home during the Winter break. When I met my parents, it seemed as if something was not right and they seemed a bit lost.

After a while, I was told that one of my second cousins, ...
who was also a class Xth student at our school (15 year old) was missing for past 24 hours. Her parents were alleging that the girl had fled with one of her classmates during school hours which was quite unlikely. ...
On the second day, the girl's parents realised that their Muslim driver was unreachable and missing too. Soon after, the girl's mother received a call from her and was informed that she had "converted to Islam and has married their driver who she was deeply in love with". ...
She wishes to spend the rest of her life with him and that her parents should not waste their efforts in searching her.

As soon as the police got whiff of the matter, a bus full of police was deployed in Miya tola of my village where the driver's house was located.
When the girl's parents approached the police, the police officials were reluctant to file a kidnapping case and dismissed the girl's parents by saying that she had "willingly ran away with her boyfriend".

This was obviously followed with a lecture on how the parents had ...
not given proper sanskar to their daughter and it was their fault that such an incident happened in the first place.

In these kinds of case, police officials show proactiveness only if they are under political pressure of if the girl belongs to their caste.
After exhausting all options by fifth day, the girl's father gave an ultimatum to driver's father that either the girl should be returned within 48 hours or the driver's family should be ready to be slaughtered as soon as the police were to leave the village.
The threat obviously worked because the driver's family knew that unless the girl comes back home safely, it would become difficult for them to live in the village.

By the end of 6th day itself, the girl was dropped outside a police station and was brought back to village.
When the girl returned home, her parents go to know that she had been in a sexual relationship with their driver for past two years and it started when she was 13 and he was 26 years old.

It was he himself who had convinced her to convert to Islam over a period of time.
The police didn't lodge a case under POCSO Act despite this case being a plain and simple case of grooming and child abuse until the District Judge intervened. Along with the case under POCSO (sexual abuse) and IPC (for kidnapping), the girl's family ...
is also facing a counter case filed by their driver for the custody of the girl, who he claims to be his "legally wedded wife". In their struggle to secure the well-being of my cousin, her parents have been fighting a rather lonely battle as
most of their relatives and neighbours have severed all ties with them. I hope I will be able to help them in my personal capacity after I graduate.

This was a clear case of Grooming Jihad as it included targeting of a minor by a Muslim man who was twice her age, who ...
used her sexually for two years before he decided to convert her to Islam at a Mosque in our district and marry her.

How sick does one have to be to groom a 13 year old girl, abuse her sexually and brainwash her to convert to Islam over two years of time?
If there was no religious angle to this instance of Grooming Jihad, how could the Maulvi not notice that he was converting a Hindu minor (15 year old) so that she could be married off to a man twice of her age? He obviously must have been happy to give effect to Quran 2:221.
Till now, I had avoided mentioning this instance because it involved a relative of mind.

But, how can I stay mum when the so-called non-left intellectuals be found on Twitter saying that Grooming Jihad is an imaginery crime made up for communal reasons by @BJP4India?
For someone who has experienced the apathy of our police towards a child sex abuse victim and the complicity of Maulvi in such heinous crimes, I shall obviously be grateful to @myogiadityanath and @ChouhanShivraj for legislating on such an issue. (END)
