A thread on the illustrators who worked on the Makaimura / Ghost'n Goblins series.

Satoru Yamashita / 山下智 joined Capcom in 1985 and for his first work there, he designed the Makaimura poster, its logo and worked as a graphic designer on the game.
Satoru Yamashita also designed the Final Fight logo and animated Haggar and Cody based on patterns drawn on paper by Akiman. He was meant to be in charge of Ryu and Ken from SFII but left at the beginning of the project (he created the first version of their walking animation).
When DaiMakaimura / Ghouls'n Ghosts was released in the West, Frank Cirroco (who has done several illustrations for games produced by Capcom such as Final Fight, Dynasty Wars and the NES version of Bionic Commando) did the flyer illustration and the cabinet artwork.
For the Mega Drive version of Ghouls'n Ghosts, Sega called upon 2 illustrators: Yuji Kaida / 開田裕治 (ESWAT, Strider, Whip Rush) for the cover art and Hitoshi Yoneda / 米田仁士 (Phantasy Star II and IV, Sorcerian) for the manual illustrations.
Regarding the Super Grafx version, the developers couldn't find an illustrator at first so one of them called his friend Nozomu Tamaki / 環望 (who had started a mangaka career recently). The team wasn't satisfied with his cover art sketch and asked Yoshikazu Yasuhiko to make it.
In the 2000s, Shinkiro (who had just joined Capcom) did the cover illustrations for the GBA version of Super Ghouls'n Ghost / Chō Makaimura and the PSP episode Ultimate Ghost 'n Goblins / Goku Makaimura.
As for the Gargoyle's Quest / Red Arremer subseries, Greg Winters (Streets of Rage, Mega Man X) did the cover art for the Western version of the second episode while Julie Bell was in charge of the cover art for Demon's Crest (called Demon's blazon in Japan).
