@krisfade A few things, Kris...
1. Entry level work is still work and should be paid.
2. Why is it OK to be paid to sell clothes etc but not work in radio?
3. Unpaid work favours those from wealthy families who can afford to work for free.
4. Unpaid work devalues the work.
5. Unpaid work is neither good socialism or good capitalism. It means that person cannot contribute to society either via taxation or consumer spending.
6. Accepting work for free makes it harder for other people to get paid . This is prevalent in media & devalues the industry.
7. Life is not free so work should not be free. We all have expenses.
8. Just because you worked for free, that doesn't make it a good or moral thing. It just means you're part of the problem.
9. Expecting young people to simply be grateful for the opportunity is exploitation.
10. When someone works for you, they are adding value to the company or organisation, they contribute to its financial success and, as such, they should receive some of that money. If you don't pay them but you're happy to reap the financial benefits yourself, that's appalling.
