Friends, I'm doing this. All my 2020 pubs, a thread. But 1st up: I had nothing published all year, then a *shitfest* of a Sept & started writing again on my B'day. Since then I've had 6 stories out, won 1st prize in 3 writing comps; had my 1st Pushcart Prize nomination (cried)...
...& 2 Best Small Fiction Nominations, a Best Microfiction nomination, and a Best of the Net nomination. Winning The Forge Flash Fiction Prize, The Fractured Lit Flash Fiction Prize & Manchester Met Uni’s 'Quiet Man Dave' Prize was *unexpected* & *wonderful*, & I'm so thankful...
...I’ve also taught 3 Flash Fiction classes with SmokeLong; being an Editor with such a crazy talented team is a joy & education everyday, & with teaching on top, I’m now in the proud position of seeing my students work published, which might be the best part of my 2020...
...Thank you to all at SmokeLong, and to anyone who has taken a class with me. Thanks to the Lit community on Twitter who have got me through 2020. I’m going to celebrate my self a bit. I hope you will do the same, because I'm proud of you for surviving this shitehole of a year.
My first publication of the year, squeaking in at the end of September, was 'The Chorus in My Walls' published by the irrepressibly kind & good @okaydonkeymag, who generously nominated this story for Best Microfiction 2021. Thank you

My 2nd publication of 2020 was the snappily titled 'When she breaks the jam jar, she sees herself in every shard so she throws her face off the pier, to sea-glass back to sand, soup into dolphins, be sea' - Thank you

'Granny Smith, Queene' won the inaugural QuietManDave Prize for flash fiction, at @McrWritingSchl. This was a great honour, and down to the love and work of judges @taniahershman & @katefeld and the family & friends of writer & critic Dave Murray

Keeping it weird, dream journal @barrelhouse published ' #bringbackthebush' in their Funky Flash Issue & nominated it for Best Small Fictions!
Thanks, frogs, 10,000 aphids, daddy-longlegs, blue lobsters & appreciation to @livesinpages & @TaraCampbellCom https://bit.ly/37RYSrk

And here it is, the story I wrote on my epic turdfest of a b'day. The story I was sure would never be published, the 1 that turned my whole 2020 around. Forever grateful to the team @forge_litmag - the very BEST people
They nominated me for a Pushcart! https://bit.ly/3n3z55L

... did I mention that last bit already?
but seriously, @forge_litmag made my YEAR about 90000% better.

Lots of people have achieved massive things this year. Collections. Novels. Presidencies. Sourdough. Covid vaccines. I’ve published six stories and left the house four times, but that’s ok, that’s enough.
To 2021, hope it brings us all at least six good things
