WHY ARE THESE FARMERS LAWS PROBLEMATIC??
- Deregulation laws could lead to the elimination of the Minimum Support Price for grain.
Large corporations could exploit farmers into selling their crops for much cheaper than #WeUnitedForFarmers #FarmersProtest #IStandWithFarmers
they are worth in order to keep up with the market.
-Would lead to less earnings for farmers. Farmers may be unable to survive off these earnings and be forced to sell off land.
-The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi justified the laws by saying they would allow for more
freedom for farmers to: Set their own prices, Sell directly to buyers and corporations, Participate in private investments to increase agricultural growth.
-However, a better way could be to increase the Minimum Support Price.
