It's starting to personally offend me that Disney seems to think creative originality is a risk they can't afford when they have so much goddamn money they're one of the creative corporations that COULD afford that kind of creative risk -R
Disney believes that a sequel, reboot or spinoff has a guaranteed audience in the fans of the original, and anything that doesn't have that guarantee isn't worth making. But audiences drawn by More Of What You Liked are prone to disappointment when it just turns into More. -R
And there's something deeply sad about the fact that people are saying "but they're doing new stuff with Star Wars!" like darling. sweetheart. light of my life. Star Wars was new and creative forty years ago. now it's just More Star Wars. -R
Disney makes good things sometimes. Then, when they notice, they seize the good thing, cram it full of spinoff properties, drag it out four times longer than it needed to be, and slowly poison our enjoyment of the entire process by tortuously prolonguing it into badness. -R
I loved Mandalorian S1 and I'm really hoping they wrap that series up before Mando's teaming up with Obi-Wan and Palpatine's secret non-evil clone grandson to fight those helicopter-lightsaber dudes from Rebels or whatever -R
