Some of my foodie groups are sending very harsh memes around about how restaurants are suffering because we aren’t ordering enough takeout and I am tempted to do the math for them. In what world can takeout replace revenue for every struggling business and at what cost???
Apparently we are to order takeout twice a week every week to, what? Defeat the Nazis? Asking people to order takeout at these prices twice a week in this economy seems...tonedeaf.
These are generally unoffensive people with extremely narrow worldview. All they seem to know to do is yell about buying takeout and gift cards and it is frustrating.
I have gone as local as possible and I am not one of the people hurting during this pandemic. Even I'm not going to get takeout twice a week every week to keep a for-profit business open. That's BANANAS. Listen to what you're saying.
And, frankly, I'm not going to spend my takeout budget with restaurants who take this stance.
