How to teach children consent during the holidays , a thread:
First things first, I am not advising anyone teach children sexual consent. Because under NO POSSIBLE CIRCUMSTANCE can a CHILD consent to sex.
These are simply ways you can teach them that THEY ALONE have the right to their body !

1. Give them options.
Most kids want to make their parents happy.
It may sound silly, but "Lacey go give your uncle a hug," teaches a very different thing than "Lacey do you want to hug your uncle?"
In one there's a choice, in the other, an order.

2. Trust them to trust themselves.

2b. The child is withdrawn for A REASON.They may have done absolutely nothing to that child. They may have harmed that child while you weren't looking. But either way Johnny does not like them. AND THAT IS OK. You do not like everyone and neither does your kid.
3. Correct adults when they use childish language to describe private parts.

4. Allow them to dress how they normally do

My granny used to tell me to change out of my shorts whenever there were adult men in the house. I get what she was TRYING to do. But what she taught me subconsciously was that being preyed on was something I could control.

Many predators ask kids to keep secrets. If a child is fearful of their parent , it is more likely they will. However, If the child made a mistake before and the parent gave grace, the child won’t believe the lie that “nobody will believe them.”
