Triprayar Sri Rama Temple,🚩

Kerala. 

The temple is dedicated to Bhagavan Sri Rama is situated on the bank of river Theevra. Theevra river is also called Purayar. Hence this place got the name Thirupurayar and later became Triprayar.
There is an interesting legend about the origin of this river. Mahavishnu during his Vamana avatar visited this place but found no water to wash his legs. Vamana took the water from his kamandalu to wash his legs, that source of water never went dry and flowing as Thiru Purayar
Legend is
Vigrahams of Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata and Satrugna were discovered by a fisherman and handed over to local chieftan Vakkey Kaimal and were installed at the sites.

These 4 temples are called Nalambalam.
Offering worship at each of these four temples on a day, on Karkitaka month ( Ramayana month) is considered auspicious.
On Vilwamangalam Swami's insistence Sreedevi and Bhoodevi were installed on either side of Shri Rama.👇
Rama Vigraham at Thriprayar has four arms bearing a Panchajanya, Sudarsana, Kodanda and a garland respectively.
Triprayar Ekadashi, one of main festival here is observed on the month of Vrishchikam.On the Ekadasi day, Bhagwan Rama is taken in procession accompanied by twenty-one elephants.
Important offering is feeding the fishes here. The fish was Vishnu's first avatar and the fish in the river are fed in memory of that.
