The thing about the death penalty is that there is literally no good argument for it. It's a massive waste of money, real estate, and everyone's time. A common misconception is that the death penalty is less expensive than jailing someone. This is not true! Death row inmates need to be kept separate, which means separate infrastructure, employees, etc. The appeals process is a total money pit.

If I recall correctly, California spends something like $170M every year on death penalty-related costs. Think about how people we could send to college with that funding. Instead, this is what we waste it on. Great job everyone!
