So today I got some news at work that I'm both nervous & excited about. Last year, I had gotten a promotion to be a corporate trainer & I would've been responsible for our East region. I ended up giving it back to them because the actual terms ended up not being what I was told.
I was also gonna be under new management in that role & the whole thing felt shady. So after my first day in that role, I said no thank you. This year, I was up for a promotion to team lead as Covid hit, but then I got passed up for it twice in favor of "friendlier" people.
I finally got my promotion to team lead in Nov but instead of them moving me onto the team I was supposed to be heading they kept me where I am now under my current supe who is not the best. I was disappointed. That just changed today. And now them not moving me makes sense.
Our region is merging with another region. My supe is no longer gonna be in his role & I get to be team lead with another supe & bring three team members with me. The funny thing is the region I'm now part of is the one that I was supposed to be a trainer for & I keep my manager.
And they're saying I'm the exact person they needed in that role for that team because of my skills & they know I'll flourish & make my team better. I don't even know how I got so lucky. I'm nervous because I'm still learning my role but my new supe is being made aware.
But I'm excited because it's a challenge & I love those & finally people recognize how good I am & I don't have to work so closely with racist folk anymore & I finally get away from someone who was holding me back.
