Just a reminder that as the international community lectures Ethiopia over how it conducts its affairs, who it should allow in, its sovereignty, etc., an egomaniacal buffoon in the U.S. has daily tantrums as he stomps on democratic institutions and let 3K people die in one day.
This is not to say there aren't many questions to ask, BUT... I get the sense many Ethiopians are really tired of "How dare you question our motives and not let us go/watch/set up shop where we please and who says you should supervise stuff in your own country?"
In other words, your good intentions somehow are above the country's sovereignty. I don't question the need for aid. I don't question the need for more info. I DO question HOW you demand, because it's not like you're really asking, you just assume the door should open for you...
...on your terms. It's very interesting that the UN workers "shot at" story is depicted as alarming with little consideration to... Hey DID they run thru checkpoints? This is not to say one way or the other, but anyone asking about that?
About vehicles moving thru areas where they might not be authorized during a war? And yet "sources" told Reuters the full circumstances were "unclear." What, we can't ask about that? Can you imagine if that happened in U.S. troop-held territory in Iraq or Afghanistan? Hmm...
But for some reason, certain assumptions come into play when it comes to African countries. And the response I get from certain folks is, "Oh, come on" or "that's an outrageous accusation!" Uh, no, I don't think it really is. 🤨
So to bring it full circle, when can African Union investigators and mediators come to Washington for the ongoing "democracy crisis?" You also have an epidemic of cops shooting Black men. And the targeting of Muslims. My gosh, the situation is critical -- you need intervention.
Rush Limbaugh is talking about Red State secession. Apparently this is their "right." But you know, the African Union mediators will assure you that they'll listen to both sides. 🤨
