California Dreamin' may be one the most stylistically, easily translatable rock songs we've seen. It's difficult to pull off correctly, but the phrasing is flawless.
There is a direct line, talentwise from Aretha Franklin to Whitney Houston. Still waiting for that vocal talent to approach that.

Similarly, a similar line, in rock runs from Ann Wilson to Amy Lee, talentwise. Also, waiting for someone to approach.
Minnie Riperton and Amy Winehouse will always have people wishing for more.
Disco, in recent listening, wasn't all bad. Had many catchy songs. I will turn the beat around in a MF heartbeat.
Off the Wall was better than Thriller by far.
While innovative, the Walk this Way collab wasn't great. Public Enemy and Anthrax did it better. Bring da Noize is a phenomenal workout song.
If you look at it, Prince's songwriting empowered so many female artists. From the Bangles to Sheena Easton to Sinead O'Connor, etc, he wrote so many female-driven songs.
People don't appreciate 80s/90s freestyle music they should. I know me at 14-18 appreciated it.

I never liked:

AC/DC

The Everclear version of 867-5309 is better than the original. Just is.
The Gin Blossoms were better than the Goo Goo Dolls.

Groove Theory should've had a longer run, because Tell Me was a whole mood.
We need that Fiona Apple/Regina Spektor duet , because I like a little chaos.
My son has a crush on Alessia Cara and her music. If I have to hear Stay one more damn time.
Most importantly, don't be stuck on a particular genre. Expand your horizons musically.
