This opinion has not just virtually disappeared overnight with Biden as president, but his own science advisors moved swiftly to publicly shut down another advisor who floated the idea. Instead, they're urging the "targeted" strategy that Boris Johnson was just forced to abandon.
There is broad public support for another round of stay-at-home restrictions, if financially underwritten by the govt (see below). And as scientists & experts keep saying, the vaccine will not be a panacea + will take many months to roll out fully.
