How Waterford can win
1. Find a way to move ball from their own third to midfield. This is crucial. It sets a base for quality supply to the inside line. Very hard against limerick - as they found out in the MHF. Barron & NM are 2 key link men to escape Limk's high press
2. Defending Puckouts: Keep Fagan with Moran again. Consider Gleeson covering in front of Lyons. But be far more aggressive on Limk working short puckouts out. Have the 2 man inside line cover Hayes/Nash side tight. Leave Finn open. Zonal mark the RWF area. Dont let Hannon drift
3. Taking Puckouts: use O keeffe's range. Dont let Byrnes or Hayes settle on their 65m. Change up distance regularly. On short ones get the ball to Barron as soon as possible. Sit him at centre back, he has the stick passing skills to get play going.
4. Be prepared on water break to face a new limerick tactic. Dont settle on previous quarters play. Call a switch of your own. Move Aussie and Bennett around. React quick to their changes/shifts.
5. Support Prunty, keep his head up. Limk targeted the matchup with Gillane and space last day. Waterford will only compete as long as Prunty does. Daithi Burke showed how crucial it is to hanging in against Limk.
Just rattling around my head from analysis done this year. Its the hardest challenge in hurling. Fascinating to see how Waterford take them on.
