Spent some time this morning reading some of the Christmas story again. Was really struck by something in relation to youth ministry that I hope may provide encouragement to some...
As I read the encounter between Mary & Elizabeth, it crossed my mind that perhaps Elizabeth was a brilliant youth leader. A young girl stands before who’s world has been turned upside down. Central to Christmas was a teenager.
But don’t miss the one from an older generation who welcomed a troubled teenager, listened to her distress, offered some insights & shifted her perspective to understand the blessing this was from God. Mary’s worry was turned to worship.
I mean, how would you walk alongside a teenager who is carrying the son of God in her womb? How would you have responded to her story? How would you help her understand the circumstances & embrace her calling?
“Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months & then returned home.” Luke 1:56

Now that’s some residential...! But imagine the conversations had, the prayers prayed and the encouragement offered.
It won’t be as significant as the incarnation, but what doubting teenager needs comforted in their distress? Who around you might need help understanding their circumstances or to find confidence in their calling? What a privilege!
