Nothing that has been filed today makes me think the Texas case is going anywhere. Either leave to file will be denied, or it will be granted and then disposed of immediately on the merits.

In the long term, I have less reassurance to offer.
The Republican Party is clearly all-in on authoritarianism, and has lost what little remaining respect they have for any form of governance that does not guarantee that they will be the ones doing the governing.

Trump has killed the Party; the Party, in turn, are trying to kill the Nation.
In the long term, it's up to the rest of us to stop them. That's going to take a long and constant fight at every level of government, against every barrier they throw up.

And kindly do not "not all Republicans" at me on this, or tell me it's Trump and not the party. Because that will be a lie. It might also be a lie you tell yourself, but it's still a lie.
