Also, there are other ways to reduce costs without reneging on current agreements made with players.
I'm not sure if the MLSPA does this regularly (I don't recall if I was on their email list last year), but I don't think it's a coincidence it was set up right after Don Garber's state of the league address seemed to include a warning of a possible need to use the force majeure.
