IMO, Cyberpunk isn't vapid from a dearth of meaning, but a lack of direction- cyberpunk stuff usually accepts a generalized, confused focus. Individual creators rarely have a purposeful artistic vision to impose on their work. https://twitter.com/KBULTRA0/status/1337078297985998849
A recurring feature in many "cyberpunk" works is a disappointing ending.
My favorite bad ending is in neuromancer when the main character leaves his lover, refuses to take a high-paying job, and decides to go back to being a self-destructive drug addict, for no reason.

"Cyberpunk" would work best under the hand of an auter. Is ur story about how transhumanism will build us a new Eden, or about how technology creates Frankenstein's monsters? Is "the punk" a righteous antihero, or an asshole?
Show me any point, any direction, any focus
