No people of colour speaking at the launch of the independence think tank for Wales. Ble mae'r pobl DALE? Welsh people of colour are Welsh, too, and we also have a stake in the independence conversations

Racial equality is a football in devolved Wales- we have not learned the lessons of AWEMA

Under devolution, the proportion of Black people incarcerated in Wales is now the highest of ANYWHERE in the UK per capita- why? What is it about devolution that has led to Black people and POC being incarcerated at higher rates? 3/
Representatives from @YesCymru, from @Cymdeithas and others: but no people of colour or Black people- why? There wouldn't be an all-male line up, there wouldn't be a line up without Welsh language speakers: so why erase BAME communities- what does this mean 4/
in terms of the vision that the thinktank has for engagement with diverse communities from different racial and ethnic backgrounds? I mean, if race doesn't matter- why is everyone not-BAME? 5/
Something is happening where the diversity of independence supports and the diversity of the movement around race, class sex and gender isn't filtering through to think tanks and to mainstream orgs- how is it so divorced from grassroots? 6/
w/ BAME communities haven grown what, 50% minimum since 2011-2020, 1/5 people in Cardiff being BAME [stats Wales], 1/3 people in Wales living in/around Cardiff, Newport and Swansea [w/ 80% of Wales' BAME pop] and huge migration over past 10 years...there is an institutional issue
And one that is disproporionately being replicated. It's not good enough to say "Black Lives Matter" and keep programming events, not include BAMER issues in policy, keep being exclusionary b/c it points to both conscious and unconscious bias
We need power to be acquiesced so that not a handful of people have the power, but we all have the power, like, break it up, into tiny chunks, chuck it to everyone. We need to be actively anti racist, not just "non racist" or stuff like this happens
