I know throwing out lists is the thing to do right now, but I'm going to throw out the main qualification I'd like to see #AState's next football coach have instead (I'm so sorry, it's gonna be a thread).
When you look at recent coaches that have had success at #AState, they often have one key thing in common: monster success at lower-level programs.

MG Coach Mike Hagen had absolutely ridiculous success at the JUCO level before joining the Red Wolves....
Previous head VB coach David Rehr absolutely crushed it at Blinn before coaching #AState and then moving on to Houston.

Gus Malzahn? Success at Hughes, Shiloh Christian, and Springdale.

Hugh Freeze? Great accomplishments at Lambuth and Briarcrest...
Long story short? I want to see a coach with head coaching experience and an established record of success. That experience can come at the HS, Juco, NAIA, D2, FCS level, whatever. It just has to be on the resume.

College football is about to enter a time unlike any other...
There will be roster questions galore with this year not counting towards eligibility and the possibility of the one-time transfer rule going into effect in January.

In addition to that madness, the new HC will have different demands on his time than ever before...
There simply has to be some amount of experience in running his own program.

If I'm being greedy, the other qualifications on my wish list include, but are not limited to: the ability to develop talent, southeast recruiting ties, an ability to recognize his own weaknesses...
good communication skills, and a willingness to immerse himself in the Jonesboro community (we know that matters here).

This will obviously rule out some big and popular names, like Rhett Lashlee, but #AState has spent years building up its revenues and facilities...
to be in a good place to attract a phenomenal applicant pool.

Anywho, we'll start throwing out names on Friday's #WDRZ so in the mean time, buckle up- it's gonna be a wild ride.
