a thread of why is han jisung THE rapper of his generation and why he is one of the best in kpop rn; (with reasoning and explanations that highlight his strengths)
first of all and as we all know, stray kids is one of the few 4th generation groups that has actually based it self around its rapline, 3racha members have been invloved with both the lyrics, production and arrangment on the majority of the group tracks including the ++
title tracks since predebut. 3racha again, the heart and the soul of stray kids, the producing line of the group that also has the main rappers. the rappers in stray kids, more specifically han and changbin proved themselves to be one of the best rappers i kpop and the best ++
in their generation many times by having what it takes to be a good rapper. and for this thread, im going to talk about han jisung (ill also do one for changbin soon), han jisung is one of stray kids main rappers, and one of the most talented rappers ive ever seen ++
jisung is a 00 liner that debuted at the age of 17, being one of kpop' youngest producer and song writer, he showed us his strengths in rapping, singing and dancing being basically the ace of stray kids +++
but obviously, han's strong point is rapping so as i said above, in this thread ill highlight his strengths with reasoning so please read it if ur interested :) +
-jisung biggest strength here is rhythmic dexterity between fast and slow and switching between different subdivisions. speed by itself is not the key of being a better rapper but it is certainly an indicator of skill in areas like diction and rhythmic++
awareness which han has.
-han is expectionally gifted at high speed delivery and has been roundly praised for this and rightfully as hes probably of the strongest fast-spitters in kpop right now, maze of memories is an example, he sounds great here especially the second part
-jisung has some excellent bars in that same vein. basically, speed for han jisung is not just something he pulls out as a party trick or on a verse here an there, its highly integrated into his style and structure.
-his versatility, jisung is one of the most versatile rappers out there, he can pull of very different rapping styles and slay them, jisungs softer is still really charismatic and he knows when to pull back on rhythmic dexterity to let the lyrics breath ++
here, you can see how he goes for a really simple delivery for the entire verse and it rlly adds to just how... heartbreaking it is? simple flows arent always the wrong choice and i think this is++
a great of example of where if hed tried to add alot of flouriches it would have detracted from the message.
another example of more laid back great delivery from han is his easy verse, one of my favs of his despite of how short it is
in this thread, im not rlly talking about lyrics nor production but only about "rapping" but ive to say it, jisungs lyrics are mind blowing, always relatable always impressive for his age. tracks like "i see" "19" "sunshine" are songs he wrote and produced all by himself.
-jisung is also very strong at word play, songs like any, i got it and we go are some of his best that shows how strong he is at world playing. its just his thing
-han is known as a freestyler, for this one, he had 2 min to hear the beat before freestyling, he also chose to use double knot as way to promote it
this one is also one his best, he freestyled amazingly and i was, still am very impressed by his ability to come up with verses under a tight time limit and make them match the beat
han also plays around alot with rhythmic changes during his freestyles alot more than other rappers/ artists might be willing to. i think if he spent more time training that skill he COULD absolutely have to god freestyle skills.
-as i talked about his versatility before and flow, im in love with the way jisung can sound as 3-5 persons in a single same verse, its really interesting and it highlight how strong of a rapper he is.
he does the same with his we go verse but this time you can notice he goes from a "lazy" rapper to a faster rapper. his flow change is so good here.
finally, jisung has mad potential, stray kids and him are still very young and jisung is what? 20 now. aside from the impressive work he showed us, he has lot of great things coming the future and i dont think jisung is as his peak potential by any stretch. hes always improving +
and its so clear to see.
