The question here is not whether the gov't gives everyone only 1 dose in order to vaccinate more people.

The question is, to increase # vaccinated *sooner*, should gov't take some risk that the second dose *would be delayed,* not that they would never get a 2nd dose. https://twitter.com/walidgellad/status/1336738397860352007
Maybe it is worth vaccinating 500,000 more people before end of year, knowing that there is some X% chance that 500,000 people will get 2nd dose after 4-5 weeks instead of 3 weeks.

OWS and Pfizer knows what X is. I don't.
The other reality is that the public health response to the pandemic will be very different by end of January. That's a reality. And there will presumably be another vaccine as well.

The pandemic is cresting now.
Last 2 things.
1. I can't ignore Figure 12 in FDA adcom brief about. I know #'s are tiny. But there is scientific basis for assuming 1 dose can reduce severity of disease, not just # of cases.

2. We will know in 5 days, presumably, if see same 1st dose effect from Moderna.
