An excellent idea that would protect a lot of citizens at a level not covered by Trump's executive order "on Critical Race Theory" would be for Republican governors and state legislatures to copy it to protect their citizens at the state level, especially given Biden/Harris.
Should any red governors or legislators be listening, there are at least a few small weaknesses in Trump's EO, most importantly that it names race and sex but not gender and sexuality as identity factors upon which we shall not discriminate, stereotype, or scapegoat.
I am more than happy to help any legislator or governor, red or blue, craft similar policy, either by executive or legislative action, for their states. I don't expect many blue applicants, but unlike lots of people these days, I don't discriminate.
I strongly urge highlighting section ten of the existing order, which allows for diversity training and teaching Critical Race Theory in an academic setting. These freedoms must be preserved, but so must the freedoms of conscience not to have them taught as fact or forced on us.
I also strongly urge, as I have repeatedly in the past, asking hard questions of the opposition to such moves. What do they want to do? Racially scapegoat? Stereotype? Discriminate? Say that their state or country is evil? Which prohibited thing do they want to do? Must be some.
Biden and Harris may well revoke these protections (ask why!) at the federal level, allowing federal agencies and contractors to violate rights again, but there's no protection yet at state levels at all and the states should provide SOME protection, at least, where they can.
