The importance of WikiLeaks and Julian Assange (and what is at stake) - english version:

On January 4, 2021, Julian Assange, co-founder of WikiLeaks, could be extradited from England to the United States.

Why is it important?
WikiLeaks consists, in a very summarized summary, in a safe place for officials and employees from different governments to leak documents that they believe to be of international importance.

Often involving a lot of crimes against human rights/humanity and war crimes.
In 2010 there was one of WikiLeaks' most recognized leaks. In it we find that:

- The Obama administration worked with Republicans to free former US President George Bush from an international war crimes investigation in Spain.
- A video of two US military officers murdering two @Reuters journalists with a drone after mistaking their cameras for weapons.

- That the US government had failed to report hundreds of accusations of rape, torture and murder, committed by US officers in Iraq.
- More than two hundred American nuclear weapons had been transported around Europe (most of them are still there), for no reason.

- That @Shell had infiltrated high levels of the Nigerian government at the time.
Americans should know more about this leak than I do.

But to sum up again, Vault-7 has leaked a series of documents showing how the CIA has the capacity to hack everything connected to the internet. Smart TVs, cars, cellphones, everything.
In the article I also show the CIA organization from the inside, by using this image that was provided at the WikiLeaks website on the matter.

I suggest that Americans read the article, because your stuff is being spied on.
As some of you know, Assange's political asylum at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London ended last year.

The country's current administration is trying to get closer to the United States and that's one motive. They also claimed that he made everyone's life at the Embassy hell.
Why? Because he thought he was being spied on.
But yeah, he was.

A Spanish security company called UC Global S.L, responsible for the security of the site, was spying on and collecting images and videos of Assange at the Embassy.

The case is now in Spain Supreme Court.
Assange's current trial began in September of that year and seeks an extradition of Assange to the United States. He was initially being charged under the Espionage Act and in November last year, 17 charges were added.
How important is all this?
We all know that dozens of activists have been arrested over the years without evidence, especially this year with Black Lives Matter.

Why care about Assange? Why is he special?
Well, the first thing is that his rights are in danger. @NilsMelzer, UN Special Rapporteur on Torture stated that "Assange is undoubtedly a political prisoner".

This week Melzer called again for Assange's release after a Covid-19 outbreak at his prision.
The seriousness of this possible extradition comes not only from the danger that Assarge finds in US territory, but also from the fact that there is no crime committed that can justify his persecution!
I see many American officials saying that he forced whistleblowers to hand over documents and this is untrue.
Several conversations (between whistleblowers and Assange) have already been published, are available online and show that this narrative is just false.
Another thing that some American officials say is that the United States was put at risk after the spills. Interesting, because several countries were cited, especially those in the Middle East, and none of them asked for his arrest.

I wonder why.
I always repeat that he is not a martyr. Assange is a person who has had incredible deeds and changed the world by helping to found WikiLeaks, and yet, he is a problematic person. (watch Risk and you will understand).
But being problematic is no justification for spending 175 years in prison.

In fact, there is no reason to arrest a person who just provided a platform for crimes committed by governments to be reported. Not a single one.
What can come from Assange could give the green light to persecution worldwide.
The world has been suffering intensely for decades, especially in the south hemisphere, with arbitrary persecutions and arrests.
If Assange is extradited, it will only get worse.
I have a link where you can donate to Stella Moris, Assange's fiancée and mother to his two sons.

All contributions go to pay for legal expenses of the trial; she says they have already passed the ÂŁ 500,000 budget. More information down bellow. https://www.crowdjustice.com/case/julianassange/
I will be glad to ad information to this thread and also answer questions.
Also, if you're a english speaker that wants to write a article about him, I would be glad to publish it at @RevistaOSabia. You can send it to [email protected]
The more information we push, all around the world, about this, the better.

You can also write e-mails and letters to your congress representative and demand them to make a public manifestation on the matter. (I don't know how this works in the US, sorry).
You can follow @sofiaschurig.
