So when DORA was acquired, I started referring to Dr. @nicolefv as their VP of research.
"I'm not a VP" was her reply. It was *GREAT* to be able to correct her every time. She absolutely was; it's not my problem if Google's org chart hadn't caught up.

Then Google did as Google does and basically Google'd DORA, and @nicolefv is GitHub's VP of Research and Strategy.
This is a livetweet thread of her talk at #GitHubUniverse.

A few times now I've read through @nicolefv's reports and thought "wow, she's *brilliant*. There's no way I'm going to correct an expert in this field on anything."
That's how Nicole learned I'm probably not the best technical reviewer of her work.

The State of the Octoverse report just came out. It came out during #reinvent so I reflexively assumed it was bad news about a data breach, but I need to dive into it more to be sure.
I swear, @nicolefv's speaking style is a weird and wonderful combination of devrel / executive / professor. I don't see anything else like it in the industry, and I"m totally here for it.
This would be super ominous if it didn't include some git-based adventure games that people play to unwind... right?
I choose to believe that since Sunday is a workday in Israel and there are a lot of startups there that they're picking up the slack for the rest of us because otherwise? Damn.
..and I stand corrected. Now I feel a bit like a heel. This *is* how some people unwind, and that's okay.
Now @nicolefv puts up a slide to personally chide my terrible "workflows."
Ugh. I like this slide but now @mattstratton is going to be insufferable for a week.
For a technical product / company like GitHub, this talk is suspiciously focused on people.
This is the enterprise track. If more enterprises sounded like @nicolefv I'd make fun of them a lot less. She's demonstrating that "enterprise speak" isn't a secret / evolved language so much as it is a mask for poor communication.
Note something particularly subtle here: @nicolefv hasn't conflated "productivity" with "GitHub activity" once. Engineering managers, please get on her level. #GitHubUniverse
"And here's what we just talked about. Thanks for coming."
AND THEN SHE ENDED THE TALK! Now it's Q&A.

Questions can be asked on GitHub. Fortunately @mike_julian doesn't hang out there.
"I'm excited for this question. Let me give you a teaser to a paper that's getting published in January." Holy crap my question was relevant?!
And that's all the time we have. Follow @nicolefv.
